The concept of a Heart Team is based on the need for a multidisciplinary holistic approach based on evidence (respect of the recommendations of the scientific societies), the patient as a whole, risks and long-term benefits of the treatment selected and performed, as well as on the level of local expertise. It aims to determine the best management strategy for the patient, and perhaps to guarantee a better result (prognosis).

Heart Team is a group of highly qualified and experienced healthcare medical professionals who collaborate to determine the best treatment plan for each patient. A specialized Heart Team is founded on a multidisciplinary approach to patient selection, leveraging the expertise of the patient’s Cardiologist, Interventional Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Valve Clinic Coordinator, Imaging Specialists, Anesthesiologists, and Cardiac Catheter Lab and O.R. Staff. A specialized Heart Team may ask for additional testing to help determine the most appropriate treatment option for each patient.
